Connect a WooCommerce store
Download the Inboxy for WooCommerce plugin, install it, connect with one click, and learn what each plugin tab does and which permissions the connection creates.

Inboxy connects to WooCommerce through the Inboxy for WooCommerce plugin. You install it from a file, press one button, approve the store in Inboxy, and you land back in WordPress connected. You never copy a token.
Download the plugin (.zip, version 2.0.12)What you need
| What | Why | |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | A WooCommerce store on WordPress 6.5 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer, with WooCommerce active | The plugin declares WooCommerce as a requirement; 6.5 is the first WordPress version that enforces it. |
| 2 | An Inboxy account and administrator access to WordPress | You approve the connection in Inboxy and install the plugin in WordPress. |
| 3 | A WhatsApp Business number connected inside Inboxy | WhatsApp is connected in Inboxy, not in WordPress. Without it nothing can be sent. |
| 4 | One WhatsApp template approved by Meta | Inboxy creates and submits it for you; Meta’s review takes from minutes to a day. You can connect before it is approved: the plugin tells you it is still waiting. |
Install and connect
- Download the plugin with the button above. In WordPress open Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the file, then install and activate it.
- Open WooCommerce → “Inboxy” in the WordPress menu.
- Press “Connect with Inboxy”. Sign in to Inboxy, check that the store name and address are yours, and approve. An Inboxy page confirms the store, then sends you back to WordPress.
If this server cannot open Inboxy in your browser, open “Or paste an API token instead” on the same screen and paste a token from Inboxy’s Developer → API page. Easy Setup also offers “Advanced: connect with REST API keys”.
Permissions: what connecting creates in your store
- One WooCommerce REST API key named after Inboxy, with read and write access. Find it under WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API. Inboxy reads orders, products and customers with it, and writes back only what you choose, such as an order note, a tag or a status for order confirmation.
- Eight webhooks, all named “Inboxy - …”, under WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → Webhooks. They tell Inboxy about a new or changed order within seconds.
- Disconnecting removes both. Nothing is sent from your store before you connect.
What each plugin tab does
| Tab | What it does |
|---|---|
| “Connection” | Connect or disconnect, and see the connection status. |
| “Order confirmation” | Shows three conditions separately: the store is connected, the WhatsApp channel is connected, and the template is approved. “Send a test to my phone” sends one real message to a number you type (it uses one message from your allowance) and shows WhatsApp’s own answer if it fails. The message wording and which statuses trigger it are set in Inboxy; see Order confirmation. |
| “WhatsApp messages” | Shows where your abandoned-cart reminders and order updates stand, and opens the setup page in Inboxy. It installs nothing itself. |
| “WhatsApp login” | Lets customers sign in with a phone number and a code on WhatsApp instead of a password. You choose when they are asked: when they add to cart, at checkout, as a welcome popup, or only when they press a button. |
| “Website chat” | Puts the Inboxy chat widget on your storefront. It is off the checkout page by default. |
| “Data sharing” | Lists what leaves your store, with a switch for each category. |
Consent and your customers’ data
Abandoned carts are tracked only when the shopper ticks the consent box at checkout, and when and where they ticked it is stored as proof. Without consent nothing leaves your site and no recovery message is sent. Recovery data older than 90 days is deleted automatically.
Deactivating the plugin pauses the webhooks and the scheduled work and keeps your credentials, because every plugin update passes through a deactivation. Deleting the plugin removes the REST API key, all eight webhooks, the stored token and the local cart table.
When something does not work
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| “Inboxy for WooCommerce requires WooCommerce to be installed and activated.” | WooCommerce is not active. The plugin will not run without it. |
| “The connection took too long and the code expired. Press “Connect with Inboxy” again.” | Press the connect button again. |
| “Inboxy issued that connection for a different site address. Check that your WordPress Address matches the site you approved, then try again.” | Your WordPress Address setting does not match the store you approved. Fix it in Settings → General, then connect again. |
| A test order sends nothing | Open the “Order confirmation” tab; it names which of the three conditions is missing. |
| Nothing at all reaches Inboxy | Under WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → Webhooks the eight “Inboxy - …” webhooks should be Active. If they are Paused, reactivate the plugin. |
